College Notes (20 July 2011)

 

Wilmar Hurlebaus of Owen graduated May 11 from Vermilion Community College in Ely, MN, earning an AAS degree in natural resource technology - forestry/wildlife.

 

Jenna Jovellana of Neillsville was named to the spring 2011 Dean’s List of the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. Students must post-grade point averages of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to be named to the list.

 

Laura England of Neillsville graduated May 22 from Marquette University in Milwaukee earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biomedical sciences.

 

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student Amanda Tyler of Neillsville received the John T. Hoffland Memorial Scholarship as part of the recent department of communication and journalism’s student excellence recognition reception. 

 

The following Neillsville students received degrees during the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s spring Commencement ceremonies held May 13-15, 2011.

 

Brittney M. Kohlnhofer, Bachelor of Science, medical microbiology and immunology; Emily M. Schield, Bachelor of Business Administration, business: marketing.

 

Chippewa Valley Technical College has placed the following area students on its president’s list:

 

From Chili: Kimberly K. Ganther

 

From Granton: Nicolas R. Gudgeon, Nathaniel P. Hasz, Bryan S. Hellios, Matthew J. Meddaugh and David A. Steinbach

 

From Neillsville: Brittney N. Bilski, Donald L. Bryan, Wayne J. Friemoth,  Peggy C. Hillert, Christopher A. Keller, Adam N. Meddaugh, Brooke C. Pankratz and Jennifer J. Werner.

 

Students carrying six or more credits and achieving a 3.5 of a possible 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) are eligible for this academic distinction.

 

The following area students received academic honors for the spring 2011 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay:

 

High Honors (3.99 to 3.75 GPA): Kevin Jones and Brianna Wegner, Neillsville; and Kaleigh Kobylarczyk, Thorp.
