Chili (25 February 1910)

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bosselman are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. A. Degener this week.

H. Pertz attended the farmers’ course of agriculture in Madison.  He was well pleased with what he learned and saw.  He also said that he found out the reason for the high taxes, seeing everything there, but still he believes it is worth while paying the taxes for what we are getting for it.

Alvin Reichert of Granton visited with his brother Louis over Sunday.

August Prust made a business trip to Granton Wednesday.

Editor Baer was in town Monday and while calling on Otto Sampe he got so interested in the manufacture of cheese, butter and type setting machines that he missed his train by about ‘4 inches and 2 seconds’.  But it was here where a friend and two long legs came in handy.  He met E. A. Webster with his two ponies hitched to a spring cutter and after explaining to him what had happened; the latter offered his services and drove him as far as Yolo which would shorten the walk home by about two miles.  From here he set out afoot, caught up with the train about half a mile down the track, got on and rode home.

The Royal Neighbors of the lodge of Chili wish to thank the Chili band who kindly furnished the music at their pie social held in the Woodman hall of that place the 19th inst.  Committee
