Peterson, Arlene (22 Sept 1956)

When Leroy A. Collinson and his bride, the former Arlene Peterson return from a wedding trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota, they will make their home on a farm on route 2, Spencer. The young people were married at 8 p.m., Saturday, at the Loyal Methodist Church. Before an altar decorated with baskets of chrysanthemums and candelabra, the double ring Candle light ceremony was performed by the Rev. Roger B. Knutson of Spencer.

Parents of the newlyweds are Carl F. Peterson of Loyal, and Mr. and Mrs. George Collinson, Sr., route 2, Spencer.

A waltz length gown of nylon tulle over satin was wore by the bride. Tiers of alencon type lace and nylon tulle were intertwined on the side of the full bouffant skirt. Her alencon lace bodice was topped with a v-neckline and featured long pointed sleeves. Her finger-tip veil was of imported illusion net with seed pearl trim.

Miss Georgia Benidict, Loyal, was maid of honor for her friend, and Miss Virginia Link, Milwuakee, served as her cousin’s bridesmaid. They wore waltz length strapless gowns with cover-up jackets and chantilly lace tunic skirts featured with floral pick ups at intervals. Miss Benedict wore blue and carried a cascade bouquet of white and blue carnations with a matching spray for her hair. Miss Link’s gown was shrimp color. Her flowers were white and pink carnations with a matching spray for her hair.

Harold Collinson, Loyal, was best man for his brother, and Robert Prust, Spencer, was groomsman. Ushers were Lloyd Collinson, Loyal, another brother of the groom, and Willard Lulloff, Loyal.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Collinson were greeted by 100 guests in the church parlors following the nuptial ceremony. This was followed by a luncheon there.

The bride is a 1950 graduate of Loyal High School and is employed as a dental assistant by Dr. G. W. Nelson.

The groom, who attended high school at Thompson, Illinois, and served in the U.S. Army for two years, one of them in Germany, is engaged in farming.

Out of town guests were from Shannon, Rockford, Lanark, Springfield, Belvidere, Greenwood and Marengo, Illinois, and from Cambria, Bloomer, North Freedom, Portage, Janesville, Verona, and Oregon, Wisconsin.
