Oelrich, Arnold (13 APR 1926 - 25 JUL 2011)

 

Arnold G. Oelrich, 85, of Spencer, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Rebekah Tarras will officiate. 

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer and again one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. 

Arnold was born April 13, 1926, in the town of Brighton, the son of Charles and Alvina (Luepke) Oelrich. He attended Spencer Area Country School. 

Arnold was united in marriage to the former Muriel Hopfensperger on July 1, 1948. The couple operated the family dairy farm and Arnold was also formerly employed with a number of businesses to include: St Croix Fish Pole Factory, Pathfinder Homes, Dickman Homes, and Burnett Transportation as a school bus driver and trucker. 

Mr. Oelrich enjoyed the outdoors, his animals, tinkering and riding his four wheelers and tractors. He especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He was very close with his family and enjoyed everyone's visits. Arnold will always be remembered for his smile and calm ways. 

He is survived by his wife, Muriel, of Spencer; children, Roger (Sherrie) Oelrich of Whitehall, Sandra (David) Kilty of Spencer, Douglas (Janice) Oelrich of Stratford, Michele (Daniel) Foth of Marshfield, and Jeremy Oelrich of Spencer. Arnold is further survived by 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Sienicki and Dora Huber; many nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.

Mr. Oelrich was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alvina; son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Mary Kaye; an infant granddaughter; brothers, Alfred and Verner; and sisters, Arvilla, Erma and Hilda.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Marshfield Dialysis Team, Three Oaks staff, and Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital for the care given to Arnold. The family would also like to express their gratitude toward relatives and friends for all their help and support for these many months; and especially thank Pastor Rebekah for her many prayers and comforting words.
