Zastrow, Henry G. (20 September 1902 - 25 December 1962)

 

Funeral services for Henry G. Zastrow, 60, of Rt. 2, Neillsville, were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral home. The Rev. Lloyd Mauer of the Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

He died Christmas Day at the Soren Larsen home, where he was spending the day.  He had been a patient in the Veterans Hospital in Madison for several months following a stroke. 

 

Mr. Zastrow was born September 20, 1902, in Hillsboro, the son of the late August and Mary (Travenicek) Zastrow.  He attended school in Hillsboro and came with his parents to Clark County in 1916, where the family operated a farm south of Neillsville.

 

He entered World War II October 9, 1942, and was discharged September 22, 1943.  He continued in the reserve army and served in Alaska until 1945. 

 

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Florence) Eggiman of Neillsville, and Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy) Coyle of Granton.

 

Pallbearers were: Soren Larsen, Leo Wasserberger, Paul Ehlers, Herbert Filitz, Arthur Meyer and Harry Frantz.

 

"What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Abide with me" were sung by Wilfred Galstad, accompanied by Mrs. Jas. A. Musil.
