Andrew Zarada, a resident of this community for the past fifty-one years, died at the home of his son Edward here of old age infirmities on Saturday, Feb. 8, 1958.  He had reached the age of 84 years, 3 months and 3 days.

The deceased was born in Posen, Poland, on Nov. 4, 1873.  He was united in marriage there on Jan. 25, 1893 to Frances Vilant.  Three children died in infancy and Mrs. Zarada passed away in Dec. 1931.

He came to America in 1901 and located on a farm in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for a short time previous to moving to Hibbing, Minn., where he became engaged in mining for five years.  He then returned to Thorp with his family and resided in the same home during the intervening years, until a year ago when he went to live with his son and family.

His second wife, the former Victoria Zaborowski, to whom he was married in May 1933, preceded him in death March 9, 1955.

He had been employed with the Colby Bros. Sawmill here in earlier days, the Kraft Cheese Co., the Thorp Dairy Co., and Blue Moon Cheese Co., Inc.

Besides one son Edward, of Thorp, he is survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city Monday morning, Feb. 10th, Rev. Francis Piekarski officiating, and interment taking place in the old parish cemetery.  Pallbearers were Mike Kaminski, Jos. Tobola, Casery Kubizewski, Anton Lato, Adam Szerlong and Jos. Pabich.
