Merrillan (7 February 1963)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mattson of Bancroft were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Oscar Hagen.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Anderson and son spent Sunday with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hagen, at Black River Falls.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hayden and baby of Eau Claire spent the weekend with home folks.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Utberg and family of Altoona and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Knutson and family of Tomah were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nash.

 

Ross Erickson was home from his work in Minneapolis for the weekend.

 

Miss Sandy Cooper of Eau Claire spent the weekend at home and attended the wedding of Gordon Staves and Judy Newell at Humbird Saturday.

 

L. V. Hayden, Sr., returned home from the hospital Friday.  He had been under treatment.

 

W. S. C. S. will meet this (Thursday) evening at the home of Mrs. John Anger.

Frank Berntson is having a checkup at the Black River Falls hospital.

 

Miss Lydia Erickson of Black River Falls spent Thursday morning visiting in Merrillan.

 

Mrs. Robert Linder entertained friends and neighbors Wednesday afternoon in honor of Miss Nancy Purnell.

 

Mrs. Leland Duxbury spent Thursday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Claire Van Sickle.

 

Miss Carol Gile has finished her studies at El Camino College, Gardena, Calif., and has transferred Long Beach College. She is a junior.

 

Misses Darlene Anger and Carolyn Gosch of Milwaukee spent the weekend with their parents.

 

Dale Austin of Beloit spent the weekend visiting here and in Humbird.

 

Our community was saddened again by the death of Mrs. Etta Beede, a well known resident of the Merrillan area.  She is survived by four sons and a daughter.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Julien of Fairchild called Monday at the Leland Duxbury home.

 

Mrs. Robert Linder spent Saturday afternoon at the Art Olson home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Orvis Burnett spent Sunday afternoon with Miss Elsie Wollhizer and Mrs. Matilda Brown in Black River Falls.
