Endru, Sylvia L. (12 MAY 1958)

Miss Sylvia Lois Endru, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Endru, Rt. 2, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of John William Hakes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hakes of Eau Claire, Saturday, May 12, 1958, at 2 p.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church here.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. F.M. Saveson.

Italian Rosepoint lace and nylon tulle over slipper satin fashioned the bride’s floor length gown.  The long torso bodice was styled with a Sabrina neckline and long tapered sleeves.  Scalloped panels of lace detailed the skirt.  Her veil was fingertip length.  She carried red roses and stephanotis.

The bride’s sister, Miss Donna Mae Endru, was maid of honor.  Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Hakes, sister of the groom, and Miss Violet Marek of Withee.  They wore ballerina length gowns of mint green nylon sheer over taffeta styled with semi-scoop necklines and short puffed sleeves.  Their headbands matched their crowns and they carried pink carnations.

Eugene Hakes, brother of the groom, was best man.  The groom’s other attendants were Kenneth Escher of Cornell, Charles Johnson of Thorp, and Leo Todd of Cornell.

The reception as held in the church parlors after the ceremony.  The bride’s mother attended the wedding in a light blue suit with white accessories and a corsage of red roses.  The groom’s mother wore a dark blue and white ensemble and a single corsage.

Mr. and Mrs. Hakes are now making their home at 433 Vine St., Eau Claire.  The bride is employed as a telephone operator and the groom is employed at Sterling Paper Co., Eau Claire.
