Cole, Nora Belle (10 MAY 1877 - 31 MAY 1958)

 

Nora Belle Butler Cole, daughter of Nancy and George A. Butler, was born at Nelson, Buffalo Co., Wis., May 10th, 1877.  She passed away May 31st, 1958 at the age of 82 years, 3 weeks.

 

She had been in fairly good health up till a week before her death.

 

At the age of 3 years and 8 months, her parents moved to North Foster, which at that time was all wilderness.  During the school terms she stayed with her sister and brothers on their farm in Kirkham Valley, attending 4 terms there.  She completed her education in the log schoolhouse at Butler (Clark Co., Wis.) and she and her brothers traveled a deer path when the river overflowed its banks, they traveled 7 miles by way of South Fork Falls to cross on a foot log.

 

She was united in marriage to Allie Cole, Aug. 22nd, 1899.  They lived at Fairchild for 12 years, moved to North Foster, where they established their farm home out of the wilderness.  Her she resided until her death.

 

Her infant daughter and husband preceded her in death.

 

Surviving are one daughter, Lottie, Mrs. Bert Morrison, two grandsons, Albert of Galesville, Edmond of Eau Claire, 5 great-grandchildren, 7 nieces and 2 nephews.

 

Nora was a kind and loving mother and grandma.  She was industrious, a tireless worker, working by her husband’s side through all kinds of tasks.  She was always willing to nurse the needy as long as her health permitted.
