Ratsch, Dorothy J. (28 August 1917 - 17 October 2011)

 

Dorothy J. Ratsch, 94, of Neillsville died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Neillsville Retirement Community in Neillsville.

 

Dorothy J. Armitage was born Aug.28, 1917, in the Town of Weston, the daughter of Robert (Bruce) and Eleanor (Schummel) Armitage. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1935. Following her education she worked at the Clark County Courthouse for a short time.  She also worked seasonally at Figi’s in Marshfield for many years.

 

Dorothy was united in marriage to Clarence (Jack) Ratsch Nov. 22, 1938. Together they farmed on Owen Avenue in the Town of Weston until moving to Neillsville in 1998. Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, socializing with family, friends and neighbors and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She is survived by a son, Stanley (Sharon) Ratsch of Greenwood; three granddaughters, Lisa (Geoff) Weinfurtner, Greenwood, Rebecca (Kurt Krier, Somerset, and Rachel (Ben) Nigon, Eau Claire; and five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Ethan Weinfurtner, Jack Krier and Grant and Cora Nigon.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; a son, Bruce; and a daughter, Charlotte.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie.

 

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville and again at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

The Buchanan Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
