Licht, Herman Nicholas (9 April 1915 - 14 October 2011)

 

Herman N. Licht, age 96, of Thorp, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service. Visitation was also held on Tuesday, at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

 

Herman Nicholas Licht was born on April 9, 1915, in the Town of Delmar, rural Boyd, to William and Louise (Lechner) Licht.  He was raised in the Boyd area and received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Boyd, he was united in marriage to Anita Bernklau on June 20, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Boyd.  Herman farmed in the Town of Worden, rural Stanley, for many years until retiring and moving to the City of Thorp in 1979.  He resided in Thorp until entering Oakbrook Health & Rehab in September 2008.

 

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Herman had many interests, but especially enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

 

Herman is survived by three children: Janice Licht of Owen, Arlene (Albert) Wink of Thorp, Ronald Licht of Withee; three grandchildren: Jay Seehaver, Steve Wink and Julie Wink; Six great-grandchildren: Kelly, Marybeth, Kaitlynn, Kaylee, Mitchell and Nicholas; three brothers: Florian (Bernie) Licht  and Harvey (Joan) Licht both of Boyd, and Gerald (Bonnie) Licht of Medford, Or; one sister, Lorraine Spaeth of Cadott; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anita, in November 1993; four children: Duane Licht, Kenneth Licht, Sharon Licht and Carol Seehaver; and three brothers: Art, Ray and Robert Licht.
