Verlie I. Johnson, 96, Owen, formerly of Wyeville, died on Friday, Oct. 2011, at the House of the Diove, Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 28, at Bethel Baptist Church, N9492 1st Ave., Camp Douglas. Rev. Thomas Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery, Richland Center. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

 

Verlie I. Parsons was born on Dec. 28, 1914, in Richland County, to William and Bessie (nee Cooper) Parsons. On Feb. 1, 1934, she married Frank Harold Johnson. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1992. They farmed near Greenwood for many years. After her husband suffered a stroke, they sold the farm and moved to Spencer. They relocated to Wyeville in 1976. She was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.

 

Survivors include a son, Harry (Cynthia Moss) Johnson, Greenwood; four grandchildren, Summer (Kelly Hoppenworth) Oestreich, Jannelle (Curt Weigel) Johnson, Samuel (Nicole Neusburger) Johnson, and Gary (Melissa) Johnson; a great granddaughter, Aliice Hoppenworth; a sister, Uldene Damon, Richland Center; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; twin daughters, Jean and Janette; a great granddaughter, Aaspyn Isabel; and a brother, George Parsons.
