Frances William Haines, 99, of Marshfield died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Three Oaks Golden Living Center, where he has been a resident since January 2006.

Francis was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Montfort, to Robert and Gena (Helgerson) Haines.  He moved to Clark County in 1920 with his parents.  He attended Wild Rose Grade School and graduated from Granton High School in 1930.  He farmed with his father until he purchased his own farm in 1938.

Francis married Evelyn Dux June 4, 1940. They operated a dairy, beef and poultry farm in the Town of Grant for 32 years.  He had a large egg route in the Marshfield area for many years until retiring and moving to Marshfield in 1972.   He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  In retirement, he was custodian for the Presbyterian Church for 18 years.  He was an active member of the Senior Citizen’s Craft Shoppe and together with his wife, sold many of their own handcrafted items.  He enjoyed woodworking and spent many hours making decorative and useful items for his family and friends.

Francis is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 71 years; three sons, Kenneth (Carina) of Abbotsford, Lloyd of Elk Mound, Byron (Linda) of Orangeville, IL; a daughter, Betty Ann (James) Becker of Marshfield; brothers Glenn (Nita) of Sparta, Eugene of Tomah; a sister, Anna Liebzeit of Willard; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Robert Earl in infancy; two sisters, Rebecca Goeser and Ella Gardner; three brothers-in-law, Alex Goeser, Russell Gardner and Arvin Liebzeit; and two sisters-in-law, Val Haines and Dora Haines.

A private graveside service was held at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield.

The family would like to thank the staff at Three Oaks Living Center for their kindness and the wonderful care Francis received during his stay.
