Leibole, Frank J. (30 JUL 1884 - 24 NOV 1958)

 

Frank J. Leibole, 74, died suddenly at his home at 111 Ave. C., Bismarck, N.D., on Monday, Nov. 24, 1958.  Mr. Leibole was a retired Bismarck merchant.  With his wife he owned and operated the Sarah Gold Shop (now called Bakken’s) there, for 28 years, selling out in 1951 to devote full time to other business interests.

 

Born July 30, 1884 at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., he was the eldest son of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Leibole, who were lifetime resident here.  He attended the local public school sand after graduating from a train dispatchers school became employed with the Soo Line Railroad at Thorp in 1905, as telegrapher.  He later served in Minneapolis as train dispatcher and in Bismarck, N.D., until his retirement from the railroad in 1939.  While his parents were living he made periodic visits to Thorp where he enjoyed meeting old friends.

 

He was an honorary member of the Bismarck Elks and had been a lodge member for 37 years.  He was also a member of the Lions, Loyal Order of Moose, Veteran Employees Association of the Soo Line Railroad, Order of the Railroad Telegraphers and the American Train Dispatchers Association.

 

Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Louis Kaufman of Los Angeles, Calif.  He also leaves to mourn, one sister, Nora, Mrs. Roy Gibbs of Hot Springs, Montana, five nieces and seven nephews.  Two brothers, John and Bill, and one sister, Ollie, preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held in Bismarck on Saturday, Nov. 29th.
