Perkins, Merton (7 July 1867 - 11 May 1963)

 

Word has been received here of the death May 11, of Merton N. Perkins, 95, of Racine, following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted May 14, in Racine and burial was made in Graceland cemetery. 

 

Mr. Perkins was born July 7, (1867) in Galesville and had been a printer and editor of newspapers in Galesville, Neillsville and La Farge before retiring.

 

He worked on Neillsville Press under the late George Crothers at the time the paper was printed in the building in the rear of the present Berger Men’s Wear Store that was at least 50 years ago.  Mr. Perkins had been a resident of Racine for the last 40 years.  He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Caroline Perkins of Racine; a son, Layton of Whitefish Bay; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Perkins died in 1934.
