Scherr, Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Golden - 20 May 1963)

 

In honor of their 50th wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Peter Scherr of Greenwood entertained relatives and a few friends Sunday, May 19. An anniversary dinner for 30 people was served at noon, and a buffet supper was served at the Scherr home at 4 p.m.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Scherr wore a corsage and boutonniere of yellow roses. Vases of cut flowers adorned the home.

 

Peter Scherr and Josephine Falkner were married in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima May 20, 1913, by the Rev. Martin Capper.

 

Mr. Scherr, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Scherr, was born May 24, 1877, in Marshfield.  He received his education in Marshfield and Chicago.  Before his marriage he was employed at Conner’s in Stratford, and worked on the Soo Line and Northwestern railroads.  He did cement work here for 20 years.  His hobbies are fishing and deer hunting.

 

Mrs. Scherr, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Falkner, was born January 27, 1894, in Lima, where she received her education. Her hobbies are fancy work and sewing. Both are in fair health.

 

After their marriage the couple came to Greenwood and has resided here ever since.  Two of the wedding attendants of 50 years ago were present for the celebration, Mrs. Scherr’s brother, Wesley Falkner of Plum City, and a friend, Mrs. Joseph Bauer of Lima.

 

The Scherr’s have a son, Martin Scherr, and a daughter, Mrs. Florian (Marcella) Herrick; who, with their families were present. They have four granddaughters, Mrs. Rometta Goetsch, Margaret Scherr and Donna and Patricia Herrick, and a great-granddaughter, Lori Goetsch.

 

Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scherr and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Goetsch and Lori and James Schapf of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hengst, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Achenbach, John Falkner and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauer, all of Durand; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Brantner and Miss Donna Herrick of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Falkner of Plum City; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stelter of Fall Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pomasl of Arkansas; Miss Margaret Ann Scherr of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Florian Herrick and Patricia and Miss Kathie Miller and Jerome Ohlinger of Colby.
