Weyer, John J. (17 OCT 1941 - 6 AUG 2011)

 

JOHN J. WEYER, age 69, of Loyal, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, August 12, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. William Felix will officiate and burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Weyer, T.J. Parker, Scott Fravert, Timothy "Zeke" Zunker, Kendal Schmidt and Kessler Schuette. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm, with a 7pm prayer service. Visitation will also be held at the church, on Friday, from 10am until time of service.

 

John Joseph Weyer was born on October 17, 1941 in Loyal, WI, the son of Michael and Mary (Walter) Weyer. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in area schools, graduating from Loyal High School in 1959. After completing his schooling, John entered the Wisconsin National Guard and served until his honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Andrea Wehe on August 29, 1964 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. They farmed in the Loyal area until selling the farm in 1996. John then went to work at Nelson Muffler, in Neillsville, until retiring in 2006.

 

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Loyal American Legion Post #175. John had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, collecting antique tools, giving 3-hour tours and driving for the Amish.

 

John will be dearly missed by his wife, Andrea "Andy", of Loyal; 5 daughters: Annette (Rob) Rabe of Oshkosh, Sheila (Mark) McAfee of Queen Creek, AZ, Sheri Weyer of Bullhead City, AZ, Carolyn (Craig) Binning of Fifield, Wendy Weyer of Bullhead City, AZ; 7 grandchildren: Carly Rabe, Trent Rabe, Madison McAfee, Emerson McAfee, Kincade McAfee, Anna Fleischman, Joe Binning; 6 sisters: Joan (Laverne "Pete") Lindner of Loyal, Shirley (Art) Lindner of Loyal, Mary Ellen Volovsek of Greenwood, Rosie Volovsek of Marshfield, Pat (Gary) Rhinehart of Anchorage, AK, Chris (Jeff) Parker of Loyal; 5 brothers: Lawrence "Hap" (Joann) Weyer of Loyal, Tom (Dawn) Weyer of Greenwood, Peter "Fox" Weyer of Neillsville, Paul (Cindy) Weyer of Loyal, Mark (Nan) Weyer of Loyal; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
