Hasse, Patricia (Marriage - 8 June 1963)

Wedding vows were exchanged June 8, in a double ring ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Patricia Hasse, daughter of Mrs. Beverly Hasse of Eau Claire and William Appleyard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Appleyard of Neillsville.  The Rev. Waldo Johnson performed the nuptial ceremony in the Trinity Lutherans Church in Eau Claire.  Dale Appleyard was soloist for the nuptial music.

The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, Fred Hasse and for the occasion she was attired in a silk organza over taffeta gown, the floor-length, full skirts of which fell into a chapel train. The fitted bodice was styled with a modified scoop neckline and elbow-length sleeves which were detailed with Venice lace daisies. The same trim was used on the skirt. A dainty silk organza bow, with short streamers accented the center back of the waistline.  Her shoulder-length silk illusion veil fell from an exquisite, large silk organza rose that was detailed with pearlized sprays. Her bouquet consisted of ivy, lilies-of-the-valley, centered by a white orchid.

Mrs. Leland Appleyard served as matron-of-honor and bridesmaid was Miss Nancy Keiholz, a cousin of the bride.  The attendants wore white organza over yellow taffeta dresses, styled with very full ballerina-length skirts with multi-colored, embroidery daisies.  Short sleeves and scoop neck lines highlighted their fitted bodices.  Their headpieces were large yellow roses with matching veils, and they carried cascade bouquets of yellow daisies.

May Beth Appleyard, a niece of the groom, was flower girl. She wore a yellow organza over taffeta dress with embroidered daisies and wore a crown of daisies.

Mr. Appleyard was attended by his brother, Leland, as bestman; and another brother, Larry, served as his groomsman. Ushers were Dave Wilson and Ozzie Speistad of Eau Claire.  Charles Stori, a cousin of the bride, carried the rings on a white heart-shaped satin pillow.

The new Mrs. Appleyard has been employed in a stock broker’s office in Eau Claire, and Mr. Appleyard has been serving apprenticeship in an Eau Claire mortuary.

Guests from this area attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Appleyard; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Appleyard and family; Mrs. Arthur Imig; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Markwardt; Mrs. Kurt Henchen and family; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dux and family; Mrs. Hilda Hediger; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Thoma; Mr. and Mrs. Danny Patey and children; Wayne Grap and Lowell Trewartha.

Following the nuptial ceremony a reception was held in an Eau Claire hotel for 200 guests.  The bride was honored at several showers prior to the wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Appleyard have returned from a wedding trip to Colorado. They plan to spend the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Appleyard.  They will reside in Milwaukee, where Mr. Appleyard will attend school this fall.
