Gebauer, Martin (26 JUNE 1882-04 SEPT 1957)

 

Martin Gebauer, 75, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Schmidt of Spencer, Rt. 2, at 7 p.m. September 4, of complications due to old age.

 

Martin Gebauer was born in Austria, June 26, 1882. In 1907 he was married in Austria to Julia Hartman. Two years later the couple, with their son, John, came to America and settled in Milwaukee.

 

They moved to the town of York where they lived for 27 years. Fifteen years ago he retired and went to Granton to live with his daughter, Mrs. Schmidt, for over a year.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Norbert King officiated. A Rosary service was held at 8:45 p.m. Friday. Burial was in the Windfall Cemetery at Granton.

 

Pallbearers were Donald Schmidt, Jerome Schmidt, Andrew Schmidt Jr., Lawrence Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, and William Horn.

 

Attending the funeral from out of town were Donald Schmidt of Janesville, Jerome Schmidt of Chicago, Marie Schmidt of Highland Park, Ill., Dorothy Schmidt of Milwaukee, Fred Schmidt, Fred Haupt and Joseph Germmett of Granton.

 

Mr. Gebauer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Andrew (May) Schmidt of Spencer, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lynn of Ashbury Park, New Jersey. Sisters and brothers may also survive in Austria. One son, John, preceded him in death.
