Bert Corey went to St. Paul Monday on business.

 

Mrs. G.E. Amidon was a Marshfield call on Friday.

 

Mrs. Will Shafter is visiting relatives at Whitehall since Wednesday.

 

John Judge of Augusta was here on business on Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Pete Paulson autoed over from Neillsville on Monday.

 

Mrs. Van Fleet was a guest at the Joe Felser home early this week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson of York autoed over and visited at the W.J. Thayer home on Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Riedel had their baby baptized last Sunday.

 

Knorr & Rausch sold and delivered a Ford touring car to Paul Zeibel of Humbird last week.

 

Mrs. H.B. Holmes will entertain the Circle next week Wednesday.

 

Miss Selma Kuechenmeister returned to Stevens Point Wednesday after a several days visit at home.

 

Miss Harriet Pietenpol came home from a several days stay at Marshfield on Monday.

 

Fred Schwerten, though still confined to his bed, is not suffering nearly as much the past few days.

 

"Grandpa" James Churchill is alarmingly ill as we go to press, and it is not thought that he can possibly recover.

 

W.S. Davis and son Lawrence left for Ft. Atkinson, Waukesha and other state points on business bent Wednesday.

 

Miss Margareth Thiede has been engaged to teach the German Lutheran School in Pin Valley the coming term.

 

John Patno Sr. of Neillsville was taken to the hospital at Rochester, Minn. last Friday where he has since undergone an operation for cancer on his lip and throat.

 

B. Tykac spent Sunday with his family in Columbia.

 

Mrs. Frances Woodward visited Mrs. Baer a couple of days last week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Garbisch and little daughter spent Tuesday with friends at Neillsville.

 

Ross Paulson returned home on Friday from his horse buying trip in the Dakotas with another car of heavy horses.

 

A sister and niece of Mrs. Mill Hubing’s, after a several week visit here, departed for their home in Milwaukee Monday morning.

 

Mrs. Crandall and children returned home from their visit at Strum Monday.

 

Eunice Lloyd went home to Neillsville Saturday and remained over Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Free Converse, with Mrs. Price Beeckler and her son Allan, came home from their visit to Jackson County relatives on Monday.

 

Miss Edna Kemmeter came down from Loyal and spent Sunday with the home folk.

 

Mrs. Rush Wentworth returned home on Saturday from her visit at Edgerton.

 

Dr. and Mrs. J.H. brooks and A.B. Marsh and family autoed over from Neillsville on Sunday.

 

Mrs. Amelia Montgomery, after a ten day visit with relatives and friends here, returned to Fond du Lac on Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Felser and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Campbell and little son went to Neillsville and spent Sunday with relatives.

 

Dan Rausch is confined to his house sick with the grippe since early this week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wilding and daughter Irma spent last Friday at the Fred Hankey home in attendance at the barn raising.

 

Mrs. Thos. Lowery has sufficiently recovered from her recent severe illness to have visited town relatives last week.

 

Arthur Neinas has accepted a position with Edw. Schroeder in the Connor Lumber Co.’s yard here and commenced work there to weeks since.

 

Wm. Dows and his granddaughter lulu, Mrs. Ed Jacobson and her baby girl spent Monday with friends at Marshfield.

 

Mrs. Schmitz of Neillsville visited her sister Mrs. Louis Plaul several days and went home on Monday.

 

Edw. Strey Sr., Mrs. Paul Roder and Mr. and Mrs. Ziemendorf and Kearney Davis were Neillsville visitors on Monday.

 

Miss Vivian brooks spent Saturday in assisting in the care of her grandma Brooks at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. chas. Brooks came home from Neillsville Saturday morning and spent the day here, returning to the care of her mother-in-law there again on Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Rice D. Davis went to Arpin Sunday and spent a few days at the Gardner McClaflin home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eide and Mrs. Henry Albrecht autoed over and made some pleasant calls here Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Beeckler, with their daughters Pearl and Haidee, the girls who are teaching in the town of Beaver, spent Sunday at Earl Pickett’s in Spencer.

 

Carl Berg came home from Marshfield Monday, accompanied by his son Arthur who has been at St. Joseph’s Hospital the past several weeks.  The young man appears to be well on the road to the enjoyment of good health.

 

Mrs. Fred Gerber is very ill with pneumonia since last week Wednesday.

 

Miss Bertha Barth went home to Nasonville Tuesday that she might attend the wedding of her sister Ottilie and Mr. Glen Peterson at that place, Wednesday.

 

Bert Morris, after a ten day visit here with his cousin L.G. Morris, went home to Wales on Saturday.

 

Prof. G.D. Vincent last Tuesday purchased the G.E. Amidon drug store building and will take possession of the same as soon as the latter can move into his new building now under construction.  Mr. Vincent intends to open up a music store in connection with the barber shop.

 

Mrs. Collins of Milwaukee is here visiting her son Chas. Collins of the Granton Brass Band Barber Shop since Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Herrling and Mrs. Mayhew of Plymouth are visiting at the R. Mayhew and Frank Preston homes since Wednesday.

 

Miss Irma Albrecht came over from Chili Saturday and made an over Sunday visit between the Aug. Schmoll and Alfred Bartz families.

 

Mrs. H. henning and daughter were over from Chili Saturday for a visit at the Geo. Fraser home.

 

Miss Myrtle Knorr will have finished her studies of music at Madison for this year and be home from there ready to resume teaching music here next Monday.

 

Fred Gerber, Thos. Wage and Dr. Schultz made a business trip to the county seat on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Alex Kriewaldt is reported as being very ill with pneumonia at the O.F. Greunke home in Marshfield since last week.  The Greunke children are ill too.  They have the measles.

 

Mrs. Scoles and her granddaughter Jessie Scoles arrive here Saturday for an extended visit with the latter’s father, James Scoles.

 

Postmaster J.M. Tompkins, Mr. W.D. Rose, Mrs. Solon Davis and daughter, Ora, Mrs. Geo. Frei, Mrs. Caroline Lichte and Mrs. Gerzemehle were among the Granton people who were at Marshfield Saturday for various reasons.

 

Al Nonhof, Chas. Reed, Otto Becker, Elmer Knickle, F. Schwantes and Theodore Kissling were among those who took Saturday afternoon train here for Marshfield where they attended the cheese makers convention.

 

"Grandpa" James Churchill suffers much from heart trouble and was alarmingly ill the first of the week.

 

Carl Schuelke attended the farewell party given for Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Beyer of Oregon at the Holtz hotel in Neillsville Saturday evening.

 

Bert Crandall of Bellingham, Wash. visited his cousins Geo. and Fred Hart here early this week and continued to Antigo to visit his older brother George.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Myron R. Johnson and children visited Mrs. Johnson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Hatch of the town of Lynn the first of this week.  They are enroute to Harrisburg, Oregon where Mr. Johnson has accepted a banking position, having resigned that of cashier of the First Nation Bank, Weyauwega, Wis.

 

Miss Alpha Philpott spent several days of last week here with her friend Miss Elva Thayer.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hart and Mr. and Mrs. Fred hart went to Humbird Sunday and spent the day with their nephew Harry Hart and his bride.

 

Mrs. August Schmoll and daughter Norma attended the Ladies Aid at Mrs. Henry Braatz’s Wednesday and spent the night as guests of Miss Bertha Riedel.

 

Mr. Squire, a life insurance agent from Marshfield, transacted business here on Monday.  Mr. Squires wife grew up here in the town of Grant.  She was a Miss Machel.  They recently moved to Marshfield from Aurora, Ill.
