Cook, Jean (10 OCT 1959)

Miss Jean Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cook, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Lawrence C. Hampton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hampton, Bloomington, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 10, 1959 at St. Bernard’s Church, Thorp.  Father Hebert Hoffmann officiated at the eleven o’clock Nuptial High Mass.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of nylon sheer tulle with a fitted embroidered bodice, low neckline and short sleeves.  The full skirt was styled with rosepoint lace and pleated nylon.  A pointed kin crown with iridescent sequins held her fingertip veil and she carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses and white mums.

Her bridesmaid, Patricia Nowak, Milwaukee, a friend of the couple, wore a shrimp colored nylon taffeta gown styled with a shirred bodice and bouffant skirt.  Her headpiece was a matching feather clip with blusher veil.

Patrick Hampton, Milwaukee, was his brother’s best man.  Ushers were Harvey Boie, uncle of the bride, and Robert Hampton, brother of the groom.

Mrs. Pat Soderberg played the piano during the wedding breakfast for 35 guests.  A reception for 75 guests was held at the Thorp Finance Dining Hall.  Mrs. Melvin Henkins, friend of the family, cut and served the wedding cake.  Mrs. Pat Soderberg presided at the coffee service.  Mrs. Don Izydorek, sister of the bride, assisted at the gift table and Mrs. Leo Hedler was in charge of the guest book.  Others assisting with the reception were Mrs. Cecelia Parks, Esther Stewart and Grace Baldeschwiler.  Waitresses were Barbara Hirsch, Barbara Pabich, Judy Gulczynski and Betty Butek.

The bride’s mother greeted the guests wearing blue print dress with matching accessories and the groom’s mother in a Mauve print with matching jewelry.  Each wore corsages of white chrysanthemums.

The couple will make their home in Thorp where the bride was a 1953 graduate of Thorp High School and is now a receptionist at Thorp Finance.  The groom, a graduate of Bloomington High School and Milwaukee School of Engineering, is an auditor at Thorp Finance.

As the couple left on a wedding trip to Canada, Michigan and other points of interest the bride pinned a corsage of yellow roses to her red knit dress.

Entertaining at bridal showers were Mrs. Herb Matzinger, Mrs. Clark Paulson, Mrs. Dean Hubbard and Mrs. Harvey Boie.  Also a surprise shower by the immediate members of the bride’s family following the dinner given in honor of the bride’s grandparents on their golden anniversary.
