The Rev. Karl G. Wilkman, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, officiated at the final rites held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for Mrs. Otto Hakola, The deceased passed away Saturday, April 8, 1961, at Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley where she was being treated for diabetes.
Mesdames Frank Karye, George Wnukowski, Frank Sonnentag, Leslie Buss and L. Kile were in charge of floral offerings, while Frank Karye, George Wnukowski, Pat Pertrunen, Milton Seaman, Emil Welzien and Frank Sonnentag served as pallbearers. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.
Born Feb. 17, 1888, in Alavus, Finland, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Erphrian Mattson, Jennie Maria, came to this country when but five years of age. Aug. 7, 1907, she was united in marriage to Otto Hakola in Republic, Mich., where they resided for several years prior to coming to this community, settling on a farm in the Town of Reseburg, route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), which has since been her home. She attained the age of 73 years, 1 month and 21 days.
Her passing is mourned by her husband, Otto; five sons, Everett, Bloomington, Calif.; George, Whitehall, Mont; Arthur, Loyal; and Walfred and Clifford, rural Withee; three brothers, August Mattson, Duluth, Minn.; John Mattson, Iron Mountain, Mich.; and Evald Mattson, Palmer, Mich.; and six grandchildren.
