Makovec, Frank M. (19 FEB 1881 - 15 JUN 1961)

A Requiem Mass was sung Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, by Father H.L. Crubel for Frank M. Makovec.  Death came to this longtime resident of the Town of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) at his home June 15th, 1961, when he suffered a heart attack.  He had attained the age of 80 years, 2 months and 26 days.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Mike Kovatch, Charles Kovatch, Louis Nowak, George Seliskar, Frank Pabich and Venci Kaucnik.

Sunday evening a rosary service was conducted at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home by Father H.L. Crubel, followed by a second rosary conducted by the Knights of Columbus Lodge.

The deceased was born Feb. 19, 1881, in Europe.  He was 27 years of age when he arrived in the United States.  One year later he was united in marriage to the late Frances Pettlin in a ceremony at Bradley, Ill.  That same year they came to Owen, settling on a farm in the Town of Green Grove, which he developed into t affine operation by his farsightedness and modern farming methods.

His wife preceded him in death, passing away in 1958.  However, he is survived by three sons, John, Clam Lake, Wis.; Frank Jr., Owen, and Joseph, also of rural Owen; four daughters, Frances Botsch, Whitney, Ind., Mary Decker, Glen Lake, Minn.; and Ann Cole, Glen Elyn, Ill. and Molly Mertens, Stanley; and 29 grandchildren.
