Dallman, Larry (Goodwill Tour - JUN 1961)

Jim Ferries, director of agriculture in the Owen-Withee school system said this week that Larry Dallman, a 1961 graduate of O-W, has been one of 31 Wisconsin youths selected to make a tour of Europe next summer.

The group is made up of the Future Farmers of American, who have been screened and selected by G.E. Niccum, Amery, Wis., who will serve as delegation host on the 23 day trip which departs from Milwaukee on the 15th of June 1962.

The Wisconsin Future Farmers will visit Scotland, France, England, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary during their "People to People Goodwill Mission."

The trip has a definite mission, "enabling the Future Farmers of America an opportunity to carry a message of goodwill to the farm youth and associated trades people in Europe, especially in the Communist dominated sections.  To see and inspect, in person, typical agricultural operations to learn something of the conditions that exist on both eastern and Western farms, and to have an enjoyable holiday visiting with, and being the guests of, young people who make your occupational counterpart in this area of the world."  This mission, privately sponsored and organized, will implement the aims and purposes of the United States Cultural Visitation exchange Program and the "People to People" Foundation.

Jim Ferries also said that the local FFA Chapter had voted a sum of $200 to Larry to be used to help offset some of the expenses of the trip.
