Havelin, Ellerd #2 (9 NOV 1902 - 20 NOV 1961)

 

Funeral services for Ellerd haveling, 59, were held at 1:30 yesterday afternoon from Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen.  The parish pastor, Rev. Karl Wilkman, read the final rites with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Mat Bombach, Uno Kolpanen, Einar Finnila, Frank Karye, William Kangas and Art Himes.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Leonard Simon, Matt Bombach, Uno Kolpanen, William Kangas and Art Himes.

 

A resident of this community for many years, Ellerd Havelin succumbed to a lingering illness of more than two years when he passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

 

Born Nov. 9, 1902 at Wakefield, Mich., he came to this community at an early age.  He attended the Moody school and later left for Milwaukee, where he was employed for many years.  On Sept. 16, 1937, he was untied in marriage to Geudrun Begum in a ceremony performed in Milwaukee.  Three years later in 1940, the couple moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), settling on a farm in the Townof Green Grove.  Suring these past 20 years he and his wife were active members of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, and he took an active part in the affairs of his community, up until stricken with his illness.

 

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Virginia) Telruzates, Thorp; his mother, Mrs. Mary Havelin, Owen; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Parve, Milwaukee; Mrs. Dan (Pearl) Arola, and Mrs. Lee (Mable) Earl, Idaho City, Idaho; three brothers, Emil, Loyal, Walfred Owen, and Arthur of Chicago, Ill., and one grandchild.
