Short, Mrs. Nettie (Marriage - 16 August 1911)

James Hughes, oldest son of the late Wm. Hughes and Hannah Hughes, his widow, was on Wednesday united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Mrs. Nettie Short, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Louis Hantke, in Neillsville. Justice of the Peace W. A. Campman in the presence of the immediate relatives only, pronouncing the sacred words uniting this worthy pair.

The groom as most of our readers knows is one of Grant’s most estimable, worthy and prosperous farmers operating an 80 acre farm of his own and renting and operating a 40 acre tract belonging to his mother.  They will take up their residence at Mrs. Hughes for the present. Thus the Ridge regains one of her most beloved daughters, for Mrs. Hughes was born Nettie Counsell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Counsell of the Ridge at least a score and a half years ago, but who in her late widowhood has made her home in the city of Neillsville with her widowed mother, Mrs. Susan Counsell.  The News joins with their many friends in offering congratulations and best wishes.
