Smith, Gail Teresa (Marriage –1964)
Wedding vows were exchanged Saturday in a nuptial mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville uniting in marriage Miss Gail Teresa Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon E. Smith of Granton, and Robert M. Wagner, son of Col. and Mrs. Arthur Wagner of Eau Claire. The Rev. Fr. Bernard T. Kelly performed the double ring ceremony. Bouquets of altar flowers were red and white carnations and gladioli.
The bride wore a floor-length gown of white metalasse styled with a stand-up collar. Her cathedral length train was of peau de soie. A finger tip veil was attached to a crown of pearls and crystals. The bridal bouquet was a cascade arrangement of red Garnet roses entwined with green leaves and a gold accent.
Miss Dorothy Smith, a sister of the bride, was maid-of-honor. Bridesmaid was Miss Patricia Wagner of Eau Claire. They were attired in floor length dresses of white peau de soie, fashioned with semi-fitted skirts and scoop necklines. Their head pieces were small, white pillbox hats. They carried bouquets of red and white feathered carnations, surrounded with magnolia leaves.
Virginia Smith, as flower girl, wore a dress fashioned after those of the attendants.
The groom was attended by Gary Krueger of Eau Claire as Bestman. Groomsman was Ronald Nelson of Eau Claire; ushers were Gregory Wagner of Eau Claire and Gene Smith of Granton.
Wedding day events consisted of a reception and buffet dinner attended by 200 guests in the church parlors.
The new Mrs. Wagner is a graduate of Granton High School and has completed three years of study at Wisconsin State University in Eau Claire. She will attend her senior year at the University of Wisconsin, where she will be a liberal arts major.
Mr. Wagner, a graduate of Regis High School in Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Vocational school, is employed as an accountant in Madison. After September 15, Mr. and Mrs. Wagner will reside at 1035 Spraight Street in Madison.
Attending the wedding from Eau Claire were Mr. and Mrs. Brian Bleskachek, Sam Krueger, Tom Copplin, Patrick Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Clarson and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Bleskachek and son, Alfred Lefstad, Ollie Gearing, Col. and Mrs. Arthur R. Wagner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stolp, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wagner and family.
Other guests were Raymond Smith of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Barton and family of West Allis; Col. and Mrs. Riley Robinson of Mauston; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Gregory of Colfax; Miss Patricia Burzinski of Thorp; Miss Kathleen La Fontaine of Stetsonville; Miss Patricia Hynous of Berwyn, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Sanfort of Menomonie; Constance Clark, of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. George Burke and Mrs. Celia Morrison of Boyd; Miss Diane Wagner of Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Wagner of Altoona Lake.
