Bartsch, Connie (14 September 1985)
Connie Bartsch became the bride of Gene Steffens during an 8 p.m. ceremony on
September 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. Rev. Maynard Stokka officiated
at the service, music was provided by soloist Mark Lavey and accompanist
Caroline Helm. The bride is the daughter of Merle and Jane Bartsch, Granton. Mr.
Steffens is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Steffens, Appleton.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of cream
faille, rimmed with lace and pearls, self-covered buttons and loops, and long
full sleeves. An heirloom cameo pin was placed at the lace-trimmed throat of the
bridal gown. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and ivy.
Kay Bartsch, of Milwaukee, was maid of honor, and Janice Mertens, Marshfield,
was bridesmaid. Both wore gowns of blue taffeta with tulip skirts and Juliet
collars. Their lace-trimmed nosegay bouquets held white roses, and yellow
daisies.
The groom and his attendants, bestman Scott Steffens, and groomsman Jay Bartsch,
wore gray suits. Ushers Rick Bartsch, Stevens Point, and Loren Meddaugh,
Milwaukee, escorted guests into the church.
A reception and dance was held at Fannie’s Supper Club, Neillsville.
The bride is a 1985 graduate of UW-Oshkosh. The groom, a graduate of Fox Valley
Technical School, is a systems analyst for Rockwell International. The couple
will make their home in Oshkosh.

Fr. Joseph Henseler witnessed the exchange of wedding vows, on Saturday, August
31, between Gretchen Melinda Conner and Ricky Lee Fitzmaurice, both of
Neillsville. Organist Mary Gelhaus and vocalist Lana Elmhorst provided music for
the 2 p.m. ceremony, held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Parents of
the couple are Jeanette Conner, Rt. 1 Chili; Wayne Conner, 801 Cherry St.,
Marshfield; Bernice Fitzmaurice, 209 Court St., Neillsville; and Jim
Fitzmaurice, Rt. 1 Humbird.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white dress featuring a fitted
waistline accented with lace and pearls. Her fingertip veil was held by a wreath
of silk flowers, trimmed with pearls. She carried a bouquet of fresh Chantilly
roses, white carnations, baby’s breath and English Ivy.
Dixie Langreck, of Neillsville, attended the bride as matron of honor, and wore
a burgundy gown. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerry Zahn and Mrs. Willima Donahue, both
of Marshfield, and Marietta Conner, Chili. All were attired in lavender gowns
and carried fresh orchids, white roses, and forget-me-nots. Flowered clips
adorned their hair.
Bestman was Larry Kosmosky, Neillsville, and groomsmen were Roger Kosmosky, Jeff
Fitzmaurice and David Murphy, all of Neillsville. Guests were escorted into the
church by Mitchell Conner and Randy Fitzmaurice.
A dinner and dance, at the Neillsville American Legion, followed the wedding
ceremony. Chaltry Studios arranged wedding photography.
Graduating from Marshfield High School, in 1982 and Mid-State Technical
Institute, in 1985, the bride is a medical assistant. Employed as a foreman of
Maintenance, at Nelson Muffler, the groom is a 1976 graduate of Neillsville High
School. The groom planned a surprise wedding trip for the bride, following which
they will reside in Neillsville.

Pastor Maynard Stokka of Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton, officiated at
the marriage ceremony, on September 14, uniting Grace Marie Hales and Jerry
Wayne Irwin. Organist Jay Parker and soloist and guitarist, Mark Lavey, provided
music for the 3:30 p.m. service. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Hales, Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Irwin, Bancroft.
Escorted to the altar by her parents, the bride wore a scoop-neck gown with
ruffles of alencon lace, featuring a chapel train formed of cascading lace. Her
small brim picture hat was accented by matching lace. She carried a silk bouquet
of blue roses and white carnations, and baby’s breath with blue and white
ribbons.
Eileen Hales, of Granton, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Linda Heath,
Hancock, and Debby Hilger of Bancroft. All were attired in winter sky blue
fantanza gowns with ruffled sleeves and bottom, accented by a small train. Their
silk sprays of roses and daisies complemented the flowers in their hair.
The groom wearing a gray tuxedo with white ruffled shirt, was attended by
bestman, Mike Hewitt, of
Wisconsin Rapids. Groomsmen Bob Heath, Hancock, and Tom Hilger, of Bancroft,
wore matching gray tuxedos with blue ruffled shirts. Jay C. Hales, Joel Hales,
and Kevin Moore ushered guests into the church for the ceremony.
A reception and dance at the Granton Sportsman’s Club followed the wedding.
After a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, the couple will be at home at Rt.1
Plainfield.
A neighborhood bridal shower was given by Betty and Dawn Eibergen, Pam Eibergen,
with Fern and Lori Rowe.
Employed at Riverview Manor, Wisconsin Rapids, the bride is a 1981 graduate of
Granton High School. The groom graduated from Tri-County High School and is
employed at Valley Irrigation, Plainfield.

Sandra A. Hribar became the bride of John P. Susa during an afternoon ceremony,
September 6, at Holy Family Church, Willard. Father James Lesczynski officiated,
and music was provided by organist Dawn Susa, and vocalists Laverne Gregorich
and Cindy Wildish. Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Hribar, Sr., Willard, are parents of the
bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Susa.
Escorted to the altar by her parents, the bride chose a white taffeta gown with
re-embroidered alencon lace, high neckline, leg-o-mutton sleeves, and gracefully
fitted Basque-waist bodice. The full skirt swept to a flowing chapel train. She
carried a bouquet of pink roses.
Judy Hribar, Willard, was maid of honor, while Mrs. Jim (Janel) Kirn, and Carla
Lindner, both of Greenwood, Kris Hribar, Eau Claire, served as bridesmaids. All
were attired in gowns of shimmering candy pink fantanza, with ruffled scoop
necklines, fitted Basque-waist bodice, and accented by matching flowered and
flowing ruffled skirts. They carried teardrop silk flower bouquets in matching
colors.
Rick Rogstad, Greenwood, was bestman; and attending groomsmen were Jim Susa,
Rick Diercks, Dave Mavis, all of Greenwood, and Junior Hribar, Woodland, Texas.
Fred Hribar, Conroe, Texas, and Don Susa, Spencer, seated guests for the
ceremony.
Post wedding events were held at the Loyal American Legion. Wedding photography
was performed by Strack Studios, Neillsville.
A marketing student at District I, in Eau Claire, the bride is a 1984 graduate
of Greenwood High School. She worked on a part-time basis at Rocky Rocco’s. The
groom is a graduate of Greenwood High School and District I, is employed by
United Parcel Service and Menards. Following a wedding trip to Colorado, the
couple will be at home in Eau Claire.

Barbara Kalina, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kalina, Sr., of Merrillan, and
Jerry Meacham, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Meacham, Sr., of Tomah, were
united in marriage on July 27, 1985. The 1:30 p.m. mass was at Immaculate
Conception Church, in Alma Center, and was witnessed by Rev. Alfred Hemmersbach.
Maid of honor was Chris Kalina, the bride’s sister, and Steve Meacham, cousin of
the groom, was bestman. Bridesmaids were Sandi Matalas, a friend of the bride,
Kathy Nicks, sister of the groom, Brenda Gates, sister of the bride, and Lori
Domenasky, friend of the bride.
Groomsmen were Clint Meacham, cousin of the groom, Ron Nicks, brother-in-law of
the groom, Steve Kalina, brother of the bride, and Doug Opelt, a friend of the
groom.
Miniature bride and groom were Bobby Jo Gates and Preston Kalina, niece and
nephew of the bride. Train bearers were nieces of the bride, Gwen Kalina and
Kerry Gates. Ushers were Martin Kalina, Jr., brother of the bride and Fred
Johnson, brother-in-law of the groom.
Following the ceremony a reception and dance was held at the Inwood Ballroom, in
Hatfield.
The couple are at home in Tomah, where the groom is employed at the Veterans
Administration Hospital and the bride is employed in a Tomah store.

Fr. James Lesczynski and Rev. Alwyn York officiated at the August 31 wedding
ceremony of Sandra Jean Krapf and Mark Allen Toburen, both of Plover. The
Saturday afternoon service took place at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard.
Vocalist Jana Barr and organist Diane Zorman provided music. Parents of the
couple are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krapf, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Delmain Toburen,
all of Rt. 2 Greenwood.
Escorted to the altar by her parents, the bride was attired in a satin gown with
drop waist, high V-neck
In front and back and pearl encrusted bodice and Renaissance sleeves. Her
cathedral train and skirt has sections of sposabella lace, which lined it in
scallops along the bottom. The fingertip veil was held by a double wreath of
white flowers, pearls, and appliques to match the dress. She carried a cascade
bouquet of pink and white roses, with forget-me-nots and baby’s breath.
Rochelle Krapf, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mitzi
Zorman, La Crosse, Judy Hinker and Gina Hinker, both of Greenwood. All wore
pink, off-the-shoulder, hooped dresses of satin, accented with an overlay of
scalloped crystalline satin. Their hair wreaths were of pink roses,
forget-me-nots, and baby’s breath. They held cascade bouquets of pink
carnations, white roses, forget-me-nots, and baby’s breath.
Brother of the groom Dave Toburen was bestman; while Jim Wildish, Dave Hinker,
and Rich Smith, all of Greenwood, served as groomsmen. Brad Marty, Plover, and
Tom Hribar, Marshfield, escorted guests into the church.
A reception, dinner, and dance followed at the Loyal American Legion.
The bride is a hairstylist at Olympia Hair Designers, Stevens Point. She is a
1983 graduate of Greenwood High School. The groom, a 1982 graduate of Greenwood
High School, and District I, of Eau Claire, in 1984, is employed at Transport
Refrigeration ThermoKing, Plover. At home in Plover, the couple has planned a
Florida trip at a future date.

Mrs. Dennis Kuechenmeister, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Opelt, all of Rt. 1
Neillsville, are parents of the couple.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white taffeta gown with
Juliet sleeves, alencon lace and embroidered bodice. The flounced, ruffled skirt
was gathered with alencon lace to form a cathedral train. Her headpiece was a
crown of pearls and floral wreath holding illusion veiling.
Barb Bryan, Neillsville, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelly Flynn,
Madison, and Chris Gutenberger, Neillsville. All were attired in orchid taffeta
dresses and carried silk bouquets of light and dark roses with yellow and white
carnations. Flowergirl Katie Opelt was escorted by the ringbearer Bill Gurney.
Tobin Harder attended the groom as bestman, while Randy Buchholz and Rich Beck
served as groomsmen. All are from Neillsville. Escorting guests into the church
were Tom Opelt, Neillsville, and Mark Kuechenmeister, New Hope, Minnesota.
A reception followed at the American Legion Hall, Neillsville. Wedding
photography was provided by Strack Photography.
The bride is a 1984 graduate of Neillsville High School. Engaged in farming, the
groom graduated from Neillsville High School in 1978. Following a wedding trip
to southern Wisconsin, the couple will reside at 617 West 7th Street,
Neillsville.

waitress at the Country Pines Supper Club. The groom, currently engaged in
farming, is a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School. Following a wedding trip
to Tennessee, the couple is at home at Rt. 3 Neillsville.
