Gungor, Lilly (20 December 1933 - 7 February 2012)

Lilly (Robles) Gungor, 78, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Kindred Hearts in Green Bay. She was born Lilly Robles Cabrera Dec. 20, 1933, to Francisca Marrero Cabrera Robles and Juan Clisostomo Robles Rosado in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. She spent her childhood years on the island and moved to the Bronx, NY, in her late teens.

Lilly met the love of her life, Dr. Bahri Gungor, a physician at Lincoln Hospital, and they married in September of 1959.  In 1963, the family moved to central Wisconsin and remained in Neillsville where they settled down for more than 40 years.

While Bahri practiced medicine in Clark County, Lilly spent her life as a homemaker and mother to her six children and to a large extended family.  Her interests included reading Agatha Christie novels, playing cards with friends, knitting and embroidery.  After the children were grown she worked in various charity endeavors as well as missionary work in Mexico.  Lilly and Bahri spent their retirement years in Marshfield, where they enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Lilly is survived by a brother, Ramon Robles; her six children, Steven Gungor, Mark (Debbie) Gungor, Edwin (Gail) Gungor, Leyal Sue Gungor, Erol James Gungor, Semra Lisa (Ed) Johnson; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bahri, in 2010.

A memorial service for Lilly will be held Monday, Feb. 27, at the Gesche Funeral Home, 4 S Grand Avenue, Neillsville, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Blaney Funeral home, Green Bay, is also assisting the family.
