Humbird Meeting (Annual - July 1908)

The annual school meeting of District No. 1 of the Town of Mentor was held at the High School last Monday evening.  W. H. Clark was chosen chairman of the meeting and the reports of the past year were read and approved as read.  The proposition to discontinue the Lightfoot School and transport the pupils to the Humbird school was brought up and discussed, but did not meet with the approval of those living in the vicinity of the Lightfoot School, so the meeting voted to continue the school as heretofore.

The board recommended that $3,500 be raised for school purposes for the ensuing year which was voted.  Salaries were fixed at $25.00 for the clerk and $10.00 for the director but the treasurer will have to serve without compensation for the coming year.  Last year the treasurer was paid $10.00 for his services. Two ballots were taken for clerk and upon the second one A. F. Simons received a majority and was declared elected.  Nine months school was voted for next year.
