Niznik, Mary A. (10 August 1922 - 7 February 2012)

 

Mary A. Niznik, age 89, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where she had resided for the past three years. The funeral was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday February 11, 2012, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lublin, with Father John Long officiating.  Visitation was held from 8:45 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial was in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Lublin.

 

Mary was born on August 10, 1922, in the Town of Roosevelt, Taylor County. She attended the Riverbank School system in Lublin.  On October 5, 1940, she married Paul A. Niznik Sr. at Holy Trinity Church in Lublin. Paul preceded her in death on December 15, 2004.  Paul and Mary and their family ran a dairy farm in the Town of Maplehurst for 40 years.  During this time, she was also a homemaker. In her younger years, she sewed clothes for her daughters. She was an avid baker, enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning and berry picking.  Mary helped with the cooking and baking for St. Stanislaus Church functions. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lublin.

 

Mary is survived by her children: Paul Jr. (Nancy) Niznik of Holcombe, Dan (Pam) Niznik of Medford, Robert (Roberta) Niznik of Holcombe, Ronald Niznik of Stetsonville, Gary Niznik of Eau Claire, and Jerry (Kye) Niznik of Colorado Springs, CO, Bonnie (Steve) Pawelko of Rhinelander, Marlene (Dave Rhyner) Niznik of Stetsonville, Pauline (Lee) Williams of Owen and Sherrie (Carl Knable) Niznik of Puyallup, WA; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Helen (Clem) Ogurek of Wausau.

 

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul; her father, Frank Mis; her mother, Katherine Nowak; daughter-in-law, Dawn Niznik in August 1993; grandson, Brian Pawelko in March 2011; five brothers: Walter, Frank, Charles, Joe and John Mis; two sisters: Annette Hencinski and Valerie Jager.

 

Pallbearers were: Pauline Williams, Marlene, Sherrie, Bob, Ron and Dan Niznik, and Steve Pawelko.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mary’s name to be designated at a later date. Hemer Funeral Home of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
