Medicke, Blanche C. (27 August 1889 - 13 May 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral home for Mrs. Blanch C. Medicke, 75, of Neillsville, who died last Thursday in Neillsville.  The Rev. Jacob Grether officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Medicke, the former Blanche Whittington, was born August 27, 1889, in Waupaca, the daughter of the late William and Clara (Fleck) Whittington. She received her education in the Waupaca area, coming to Clark County in 1911.  She was married June 22, 1908, to Walter Medicke in Chicago, Ill.  He died in 1933.  They farmed in the Town of Weston.  Mrs. Medicke moved to Neillsville in 1950, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. William Gallagher.

 

She is survived by a son, Warren Medicke of Neillsville; a daughter, Mrs. William (Pauline) Gallagher of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Emelia Shalek of Neillsville; and a grandson.

 

She was a member of the United Church of Christ.

 

Pallbearers were: Ray Tesmer, Elliot Warlum, Frederick Wagner, Everett Shaw, Dale Armitage and Allen Gutenberger.

 

"My God and I" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung by Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

People from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. John Midthun and Mrs. Belle LaHaie of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fischer and Nona of Liberty, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Gallagher and Mike Gallagher and Mrs. William Naedler, Jr., of Granton.  From Marshfield were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tesmer; and from Greenwood were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ratsch and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gutenberger.
