Schindler, JoAnn M. (3 AUG 1963)

At a 10:00 a.m. nuptial mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood, Miss JoAnn Marie Schindler became the bride of Stuart Arman Gerhardt, on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, 1963.  She was given in marriage by her father with the Rev. Edward Hartung conducting the ceremony.  The St. Mary’s choir rendered selections during the service.  Pink and white gladiolas adorned the altar.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schindler of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Gerhardt of Owen.

The bride chose for her wedding a bouffant floor length gown of white organza over satin.  It was styled with schiffic embroidery panels down the front and sides.  The embroidery was repeated in the scooped neck bodice and long tapered sleeves.  Her three tiered illusion veil was attached to a crown of roses and pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white roses and ivy.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Carol Schindler.  Bridesmaids were Miss Patricia La Due of Milwaukee and Miss Judy Kivikko of Madison.  They wore identical shrimp pink organza over taffeta street length sheath dresses with lace trimed overskirts.  They wore matching rose headpieces and carried colonial bouquets of pink and white carnations.

Lawrence Bolen of Madison attended the groom as best man, with Reginald Thompson of Madison and Karl Miller of Portage as groomsmen.  Ushers were Delmaine Schindler, a brother of the bride, of Madison, and Roger Miller of Mosinee.

The wedding day events were a dinner held at St. Mary’s Hall in Greenwood and a reception held at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride is a graduate of the Owen-Withee Senior High School and attended the Accredited School of Beauty Culture in Madison.  She has been employed in the Rux Beauty Salon in Portage.

The groom graduated from the Owen-Withee Senior High School and the Madison Business College.  He is employed as a Court Reporter for Columbia County Court and Portage.

The newlywed went to northern Michigan for a two week honeymoon and will then reside at 406 W. Conant St. in Portage.
