Tews, Luann (Marriage - 24 July 1965)

Miss Luann Tews of Neillsville and Dale Haunschild of Greenwood were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.  Rev. Norman Lindloff officiated.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tews of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Haunschild of Greenwood.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, while Victor Lehmann played the traditional "Wedding March". Vocal selections, "O Perfect Love" and "The Wedding Prayer" were sung by Kendall Smith.

For her wedding the bride chose a gown, the bell-shaped skirt of which was of fashion lace from Barcelona, Spain.  It was topped by a peau de soie scoop necked bodice with short sleeves.  A long, detachable train made of fashion orange blossoms, held the bouffant lace extended from the waistline.  A queen’s crown of brilliant iridescent sequins and seed pearls entwined, accented with pearlized cloud veil of bridal illusion.  She carried a crescent of pink roses centered with white ‘mums, accented with deep green leaves.

The attendants were Mrs. Virginia Marg, a sister of the bride, as matron-of-honor; Mrs. Janice Suckow, sister of the bride, and Miss Mary Ann Haunschild, sister of the groom, as bridesmaids.  They wore gowns patterned after the bride’s, with a bell-shaped skirt of fashion white lace over rose pink taffeta. The bodice was a scoop-necked, short-sleeved top of rose pink slipper sat in. Their headpieces were large petal bow cloches of rose pink slipper satin and matching rose pink face veils of nylon illusion. They carried wicker baskets of white Shasta daisies, accented with sprengeri and pink lace.

Jon Haunschild attended his brother as bestman, with Glenn Suckow and Melvin Marg as groomsmen.  Ushers were John Kruse and Edgar Tews.

A wedding dinner and reception were held at St. John’s School in Neillsville.

Out of town guests attending were from Appleton, Eau Claire, Greendale, Marshfield, Milwaukee, Neshkoro, Racine, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin Rapids, and Minneapolis, Minn.

Following the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to the North Shore Drive, Canada, and Mackinac Island.

The former Miss Tews was employed at Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire. Mr. Haunschild is employed by Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing in St. Paul, Minn. They will reside at 1339 East Maryland Avenue, Phalen Terrace apartments, Apt. 21, St. Paul, Minn.
