Helms, William (30 SEPT 1875-29 MAY 1958)

 

Williams Helms, 82, Glidden died in an Ashland Hospital at 6 a.m. May 29. He was born at Bridgeman, Mich., Sept. 30. 1875 and went to Adams County, Wis. In 1882. He was married to Bertha Miles, March 27, 1900, at Loyal. They lived at Loyal till 1904 when they moved to Winona, Minn. They also lived at Merrill. In 1915 they moved to Glidden where Mr. Helms established a broomhandle factory which he operated for 15 years.

 

He is survived by a son, Nyles Helms of Ontanagon, Mich. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Flora Taylor of Evergreen Park, Ill., and Mrs. Mae Addington, Cheyenne, Wyo., and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bruns Funeral Home, Glidden, by the Rev. Francis Jones. The body was then brought to Loyal where graveside services were conducted by the Rev. Wendell Bennetts in the Loyal Cemetery and burial was by the side of his wife, who died in 1949.

 

Among those who came from away to attend the funeral were:

 

Nyles Helms of Ontonagen, Mich.; Mrs. Flora Taylor and son Charles Taylor of Evergreen Park, Ill.; Miss Mildred Jenks and Mrs. Roy Miles of Winona, Minn.; and Mrs. Ida Be Beau of Ashland.
