 Price, August (09 Oct 1882 - 05 Sept 1959)

August Price, 76, of R. 1, Unity, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, of old age complications.  He was admitted to the hospital August 26.

He was born in Manitowoc County, Oct. 9, 1882.  As a young man of 16 he came to Clark Co. and settled on a farm in Green Grove where he had lived ever since.

He was married to Erna Schenck April 12, 1907 in Green Grove.  He served as school clerk in his school district.

He is survived by his wife; by five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Laura) Kovatch, Duluth, Minn.’ Mrs. Chester (Hilda) Vine and Mrs. Hugh (Frieda) Vine of Janesville; Mrs. Warren (Verena) Thomas of Birchwood; and Mrs. Ray (Grace) Johnson, Loyal; and two sons, Ernst, at home, and Edward of Milwaukee; by 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred, of Owen.  One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. William Baker officiating.  Burial was in Beaver Town Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Hardrath, Albert Hardrath, Louis Hardrath, Fred Roeck, Elmer Schuette and Richard Witte.

James Colby sang the hymns, "Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Byron Zepplin at the organ.

Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Vine and Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Vine and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Theil, Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Price, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kovatch and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Thompson, Duluth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kovatch, Seymour; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Thomas, Birchwood; Mrs. Florence Dahl and Armin Reinke, Oshkosh; Mrs. George Marganau, Fond du Lac, with many others from Greenwood, Owen, Unity, Colby, Withee and Loyal.
