Winn, Floyd E. (30 April 1886 - 11 November 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Floyd E. Winn, 79, of Granton, who died Thursday, November 11.  Officiating was the Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Masonic services followed.  Burial was made in the Town of Grant Cemetery.

 

Mr. Winn was born April 30, 1886, in Clark County, where he had spent most of his lifetime. He attended country schools and, following his education, he worked in logging camps, operated a milk route, and hauled freight for several years.

 

He was helpful in organized the Guernsey Breeders Association in Clark County and was an active member of the Republican Party. He also took an active role in the York Grange and the Masonic Lodge.  He belonged to the Neillsville Lodge, No. 163, F. & A. M. and Neillsville chapter No. 66, Royal Arch Masons.

 

For 14 years Mr. Winn served on the Clark County Selective Service board.  On August 5 of this year he received a certificate of appreciation from President L. B. Johnson for his work.

 

He was married April 7, 1909, in Granton to the former Dora Wage, who survives.  He is also survived by: four children, Mrs. John F. (Kathryan Jane) Mosby of West Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Bernard (Patricia Ellen) Stelljis of Montgomery, N. Y.; Mrs. Joseph (Doris Irene) West of San Antonio, Tex.; and John Winn of Glencoe, Minn.  Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Paul (Bertha) Finner of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Byrl Winn of Wisconsin Rapids; and four grandchildren, Rand and Beth Mosby, Thomas and Susan Winn.

Winn of Webster, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hales, Ralph Winn, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. John Murgatroyd and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Potter, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Edwin Eliason of Edgerton; Mrs. Earl Plettner, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kihn of Milwaukee.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stettler of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mortimer of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mrotek of Owen; Willard Scheuring of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Stewart B. Morrison of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crossgrove of Colby.

 

Those from the Granton area attending were: Mrs. Bert Hayden, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steinich, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Arlie Graves, Floyd Pietenpol, Mrs. Allen Montgomery, Dr. Victor Tharp and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer.

 

Pallbearers were: John Mattson, Richard Albrecht, Albert Holt, William Ruchaber, Jas. A. Musil and Dr. Victor Tharp.  Masonic services were conducted by Milo Mabie.

 

"When The Roll is called up yonder" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by Mrs. Glen Lezotte and Linda Lezotte, accompanied by Mrs. T. N. Thompson.
