Selk, Jeffrey A. (10 February 1962 - October 2012)

Jeffrey was born Feb. 10, 1962, in Neillsville to Ronny and Sonja (Dahl) Selk in Chili. Jeff graduated from Marshfield High School. He spent his summers with his beloved grandfather, Carsten Lovestad, painting barns, and listening to Grandpa’s stories. Jeff was a heartfelt man, devoting his life to helping anyone in need of a hand.

Jeff’s journeys led him on to moving to Alabama and becoming a foreman for a high-line inspection company, with interest in returning home to further his education. He attended UW-Marshfield, UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire and UM-Duluth, with numerous degrees in business administration, underground mapping systems, GPS field identification, and electrical safety systems. In 1997, with a lot of hard work and dedication, Jeff created and developed UIS (Utility Inspection Service) with his home base being in Neillsville. Jeff serviced the surrounding electrical co-ops, including neighboring states.

Jeff was a passionate and respectful for the outdoors. He loved fishing in remote areas of Canada, hunting, bird watching and traveling. One of his favorite adventures was to travel to Duluth to watch the ships come into the harbor and the migration of thousands of birds flying on their journey to new destinations. He was an artist in all aspects of his life. He loved poetry and painting. His love and leadership was felt by everyone along his journey. He was an exceptional husband, father, son, brother and best friend.

He will be deeply missed, but his kindness and wonderful memories will never be forgotten. Packer games will never be the same, but know he is watching over all of us and still cheering them on. We love you Jeff.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Thomas Selk.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy Selk; children, Thomas Jeffery, Kevie, Trista (Nathan) Ehlen; his mother and father, Sonja (Byrl) Dahl of Chili; brother, Steve (Cheryl) Selk of Chili; sisters, Sara (Mark) Nickel of Chili, Janet (Paul) Wolf of Lindsey; and nephews, Shawn Selk, Daniel Nickel, Chad Selk, Charlie Nickel and Zachary Wolf; and great nephews, Chase and Aiden Selk.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Honorary bearers will be Kevin Christorf, Thomas Selk, Shawn Selk, Chad Selk, Daniel Nickel and Charlie Nickel.
