Meddaugh, Sarah #2 (25 DEC 1872 - 6 SEP 1917)

Mrs. Will Meddaugh died at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield Thursday evening about 9 o'cloc of Sept. 6th, 1917, aged 44 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Sarah Short was born in the town of Sherwood, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Short, Dec. 25th, 1872, and was married to Wm. Meddaugh there Sept. 19, 1897. They made their home there for several years, then moved to the town of Washburn and from Washburn to the town of York 6 years ago, where they have since resided. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Short, died nine years ago.

The grim reaper has taken a kind and loving parent, a mother true, kind and affectionate. She leaves, besides her husband, 8 children, namely George, Neil, Albick, Lee, Ray and Fay, who are twins, and Alice and Robert. Her death resulted from heart disease, for which trouble she had been a patient at the Marshfield Hospital fro several weeks past. The remains were taken to the home of her only sister, Mrs. Geo. Bue at Neillsville Friday, where the body laid in state until the funeral there Monday afternoon. Rev. Pinney of the Pres. Church officiated and interment was made in the city cemetery. The pallbearers were Ed Carter, Will Stevens, Jesse and Arthur Wilding, Geo. Cramer and John Galbreath, all of whom were former neighbors of the deceased and her family. The day after the funeral the bereaved husband, accompanied by his seven sons, the oldest a boy of 19 and the youngest, a lad of 9 years, went home to Dorchester. The little daughter, Alice, a girl of 11 years, remained with her aunt Mrs. Geo. Bue at Neillsville, where she will indefinitely make her home and attend school. The sympathy of the surrounding community and all who knew her is extended to the bereaed ones.

Mr. and Mrs. John Meddaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Meddaugh of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Delbert Hayes of Janesville, Oscar Doughty of Almond, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Doughty of Rudolph, with many friends from Washburn, Granton, York and Sherwood were among those who attended the funeral on Monday.
