Hill, James L. (? – 21 November 1975)

Funeral services were to be held Tuesday morning from Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard for James L. Hill, 34-year-old father of one, who was injured fatally in a two-car collision on Highway 98 in the Town of Loyal early last Friday morning.

Hill was driving a panel truck to work in Marshfield, suffered multiple internal and chest injuries when his vehicle collided nearly head-on with a pickup truck driven by Leonard G. Zogg, 56, of Spencer.

Zogg was taken by private automobile to the Colby Clinic where he was treated for cuts and bruises and released.

Hill was removed by ambulance to a Marshfield hospital where he succumbed.

In his report of the accident, County Traffic Officer Albert J. Perkins said marks at the scene indicated Hill had attempted to pull his truck back onto the highway after a front wheel had dropped onto the shoulder from the pavement.

The panel truck careened across the east-bound lane and collided nearly head-on with the truck driven in a westerly direction, by Zogg.

Hill’s death was the seventh traffic fatality on Clark County highways this year. It compares with nine for the entire year of 1974, according to county traffic department records.
