Kokaly, Josephine (1880 - 1972)

 

GREENWOOD--Services were held at 11 a.m. today (Monday) at the Hill Funeral Home here, for Mrs. Martin (Josephine) Kokaly, 92, of Greenwood, Clark County, whose death was reported in Saturday's Newsherald (2/25/1972). 


The Rev. Leander Koopman, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church here, officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


The former Josephine Smolich was born Feb. 21, 1880, in Yugoslavia, and was married Feb. 25, 1900, in Germany, to Martin Kokaly, who preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1952. The couple came to the United States in 1903 and settled in Sunnyside, Utah. In 1914 they came to Willard and operated a farm there until 1950, when they retired and moved to the city of Greenwood. She had been making her home with her children until two years ago when she entered the Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville.


Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Arlist (Emilie) Ross, Hazel Park, Mich. Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Pufka, Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Avis Hartman, Oaklawn, Ill. three sons, Martin, Willard Reinhold, Wheaton, Ill. and Edward Kokaly, Marshfield 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
