Kowalczyk, Chester (1922 - 1999)

 

Chester Kowalczyk, 73, Thorp, died Thursday morning, May 16, 1996 at Victory Medical Center Nursing home, Stanley.


Chester was born July 20, 1922 in Chicago, Ill. to Frank and Stella Kowalczyk. He was a veteran of World War II Army. Worked as a switchman for Burlington Railroad for 28 years. He married Marie Koperski August 24, 1946 in Chicago. They lived in Chicago until 1985 when he became a resident of Thorp. He also was a member of Thorp American Legion Post 118.


Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 1996 at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp with Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial was in St. Hedwig's Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Thorp American Legion Post at the graveside. Legion members served as pallbearers.


His is survived by his wife Marie Kowalczyk of Thorp one daughter Antoinette Jacobson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild three brothers: Harry of Roundup, Mont., Leo of Billings, Mont., Joseph of San Diego, Calif four sisters: Celia Richie, Emily Schenak, Catherine Sweet and Jennie Hogg, all of Lewistown, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents.
