HOME GLEANINGS.

It was a surprise when the sad news went the rounds early Tuesday morning that Mr. L. J. Randles had died at 3:30 that morning from quinsy. She had not been seriously ill, though she had been suffering from a periodical attack of quinsy, and Monday had had her tonsils lanced, after which she felt much better. About midnight Monday, a younge sister, Clara Helwig, who was sleeping with Mrs. Randles, was also suffering from quinsy, and asked the later to examine her throat. This she did and later they went back to bed. It was not long before Clara and also Rebecca Randles, who was sleeping in an adjoining room, were aroused by the loud breathing of Mrs. Randles. When spoken to, she was unable to answer. Dr. Churchill and other help were summoned and O. C. Fricke was started to the camp, fourteen miles away after Mr. Randles. But before the later arrived, death claimed its victim and all was over.

Ida Randles was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Helwig and was born over 29 years ago in Manitowoc. In March, 1888, she was married to L. J. Randles, and for the past few years has lived at Longwood and Greenwood. She was the mother of three bright children, two girls and a baby boy nearly two years old. Deceased was a most pleasing women in every way and her untimely demise seems hard to explain and harder for those who knew her best to bear. The profoundest sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband and the motherless children.

The funeral occurred Thursday afternoon from the Baptist church, Rev. R. E. House, officiating. The interment took place in the Greenwood cemetery.

Relatives present from out of town to attend the funeral of Mrs. L. J. Randles are: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Helwig, father and mother of deceased, with their sons, Charles and William of Alma Center, and August, from Trow's camp, above Withee. Rodger Randles and siter Eda of Black River Falls, brother and sister of Mr. Randles Mrs. Gus Randles of Wausau Augtust Helwig, of Alma Center, uncle of deceased, Horace Brownell of Loyal, nephew of Mr. Randles.
