Kathleen Risinger, age 64, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died Monday July 5, 1999 at House of the Dove in Marshfield.


Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2000 at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Hogan will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.


Kathy was born April 26, 1935 in Thorp, WI to John and Catherine (Mertens) Hazuga. She was married to William Risinger from 1954 - 1989. She was employed as a real estate agent for Sharon Nelson Real Estate in Wisconsin Rapids. Kathy belonged to the Secular Franciscan Order, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Fraternity.


She is survived by five children: David (Janet) Risinger of Roseville, MN, Barb (Dave) Van Dreese of Thetford Center, Vermont, Lisa (Tom) Patterson of Stevens Point, WI, Connie (Sam) Dahman of LaCrosse 10 grandchildren two sisters: Lorraine (Charles) Lien of Chippewa Falls, WI, Marlene (Ivan) Muetzel of Cottage Grove, MN two brothers: John (Pat) Hazuga of Stanley, WI and Jerome (Elaine) Hazuga of Thorp, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter Donna.


Friends called at the Richay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, led by the Secular Franciscans.
Kathy touched the hearts of those she met. She was always present to listen and help others. She was role model for her family even as she was dying. She was a woman of great resilience, facing every challenge of her life with strength and perseverance. Most of all Kathy valued the times she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was always ready to help out her children, to listen, provide guidance, and to be there for them at any time.


She respected all that she met. She enjoyed times with special friends, playing cards, traveling, rosary group, biking and camping. She took great pride in her garden vegetables and perennials. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed preparing wonderful meals for her family's get togethers. She enjoyed her work in real estate, working with people to help them find their special home.


Most of all, Kathy wanted to thank everyone for their kindness, when they send cards, flowers, prayers and coming to visit her throughout her illness.
