DEATH OF MRS. JAMES RANDALL


On Saturday May 2nd, 1908 occurred the death of Mrs. James Randall, one of the pioneer settlers of the town of Unity, Clark County. Death was due to heart disease, with which she has been afflicted for many years.


The deceased was dearly loved by all who had the honor of her acquaintance.


Harriett J. Powers was born in Canada Feb. 21, 1844. She came to Wisconsin with her parents when about five years of age and located at Elkhorn, later removing to La Crosse. She was married to James Randall June 20, 1875 and came to Clark County the same year.


Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, James P., Anus R., Hugh L. and Samuel H., all but Hugh, who is in Washington, were present at the funeral. She also leaves two brothers, Samuel Powers of Chicago and H. H. Powers of Black River Falls.


The funeral was held from the Beaver Church Monday, Rev. G. W. Austin officiated. Interment was made in the Beaver Cemetery. The unusual large attendance at the funeral was evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by her neighbors and friends. (Unity Register)
