OBITUARY OF CAROLINE CHRISTIE


Caroline Beeler
, daughter of Fred and Sylvina Beeler, was born in Crawford County, Pa. On Jan 28, 1852 and was married to Andrew Christie on March 27, 1875 at Greenville, Pa. The following year the young couple came to Clark County. Together they met the tests and trials of pioneer life with cheerfulness and courage, and together they realized the hope of carving a comfortable home for themselves and their children out of a mere wilderness.


To this union were born four children, Sylvina (Mrs. Ben Stanley) of the Town of Easton, Scott and Fred who resided on the home farm and Allie (Mrs. Len Shaw), who died March 14, 1936. She was also like a mother to the children of her brother and sister, Mrs. Geo. Iffland of Humbird, and Free Burge of Muskegan, Mich., who made their home with her at times.


Mr. Christie passed away Nov. 22, 1917.


Mrs. Christie passed away on Sunday, April 7, 1940 and funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 10, a 1:00 o'clock at the Jaster Funeral Home in Neillsville and at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist Church at Christie. The body was laid to rest in the Christie Cemetery, Rev. A. J. Abbott of Greenwood officiated.


The pallbearers were Matt Schaeffer, Walter Boon, Ed Johnson, Arthur Barton, Mr. Loberg and Julius Bohnsack.


At the funeral hme Mrs. Jaster sang The Lord Is My Shepherd and at the church Mr. and Mrs. Hareder, Mrs. Geo. Schaefer, Clinton Asplin and Miss Florence Bohnsack sang The Garden of Prayer , The Old Rugged Cross and God Will Take Care of You.
