OBITUARY OF JOSEPH WOLF, SR.


Joseph Wolf Sr. was born in Bavaria, Germany Jan. 18, 1853 and came to America with his parents when he was one and a half year old. He was united in marriage, May 8, 1876 to Anna Brantmier at Harrison, Wis.


Mr. Wolf retired from farming near Bakerville in 1912 and moved to Marshfield, where he lived with his daughter.


Mr. Wolf passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Seymour at Marshfield, Monday morning Sept. 1, 1941 at 6:00 o'clock after an illness of three weeks.


A solemn Requiem High Mass was read at 9:00 o'clock Thursday morning, Sept 4, 1941 at St. John's Catholic Church at Marshfield, with Rev. Augustine Frisch, Rev. Arthur Heindi and Rev. Walter Dillenburg officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in the Catholic Cemetery at Hillside.


He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in 1917, a daughter, Elizabeth, who died in 1880, his parents and four sisters.


He is survived by nine children, Jos. Wolf Jr. Greenwood, Clark County, Wis. William Wolf, Chili Mrs. Margaret Klein, Marshfield Andrew Wolf, Marshfield R. 1 John Wolf, Colby Mrs. C. (Anna) Lindsley, Marshfield Mrs. Joseph (Clara) Gaffney, Roberts Mrs. John (Barbara) Jost, Stratford Mrs. Chauncey (Madeline) Seymour, Marshfield two brothers, George of Sherwood and Tony of Hilbert, 33 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.


Mr. and Mrs. Jose. Wolf and family of Greenwood attended the funeral on Thursday morning.


The pallbearers were Ray Klein, DuWayne Lindsley, Arnold Jost, Art Wolf, Bernard Wolf, and Frank Wolf.


Flower girls were Verna Klein, Adelaide Jost, Margaret Wolf and Marie Wolf.
