CLAYTON E. BRAUN


A memorial service was held on Sunday, Oct. 14, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ for Clayton E. Braun, 63, of Greenwood Clark County. Mr. Braun died Oct. 11, 1984 as a result of a car accident Sept. 24.


Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Alperstett of Loyal, Herbert Horn, Fred Barth, Jerry Soweija, Harold Horn and Gerald Horn of Greenwood.


Clayton Braun was born in the Town of Longwood on June 18, 1921. He was the son of Edward F. and Marie (nee Damerow) Braun. On June 18, 1942, he married Alice Ule at the Zion Parsonage of Greenwood.


He owned and operated a sawmill in the Town of Longwood for many years.


Clayton was a member of the Immanuel Untied Church of Christ, Greenwood and served as a consistory member and member of its Adult Fellowship. He was a member of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, a Black River Bowmen member, a 4-H leader for 30 years and served on the Greenwood Community School Board.


He is survived by his wife, Alice three sons, Clayton W. Braun of Greenwood, Gary E. Braun, Superior, David Braun, Oregon, Wis. one daughter, Jeanne Matter of Sheboygan Fal and eight grandchildren. Also one brother, Dr. Edward Braun of Milwaukee and one sister, Iris Phillips of Fresno, Calif. A sister, Beatrice, preceded him in death.
