STURTZ RITES


Greenwood--The Rev Lee H. Holmes conducted funeral rites Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Grace Methodist Church for Mrs. Samuel (Weston S.) Sturtz, 81, who died March 23, 1949. Interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mrs. Chal Perkins and Miss Evangeline Sheets sang In the Garden and The Old Rugged Cross , with Mrs. William Olson as piano accompanist. Six grandsons from Sparta served as pallbearers.


The body had been lying in state at Sparta until Sunday. She and her husband were residents on a farm in Braun Settlement, Clark County prior to Oct. 1948, when they went to Sparta to live with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Purdy, Mr. Sturtz died Feb. 28, 1949.


Out of town people at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Purdy and other relatives from Sparta Mrs. Percis Vine, Monroe Peter Haefner, Illinois Mr. and Mrs. James Sturtz, Granton and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sturtz, Loyal.


Mrs. Sturtz is survived by two sons and two daughters, Peter Haefner, Illinois Lawson Haefner, Idaho Mrs. William (Mildred) Purdy, Sparta and Mrs. Percis Vine, Monroe and two stepsons, James Sturtz, Granton, and Howard Sturtz, Loyal.
