JOSEPHINE SCHERR


Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. for Josephine Scherr, 94, 606 S. Main, Greenwood, Clark County. She died Thursday, Aug. 18, 1988 at 8:05 a.m. at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.


Rev. William Nyagatwa officiated at services at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment was in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.


Pallbearers were Wilbur Black, Patrick Achenbach, Bernard Stelter and Lowell Norrish.


Josephine Falkner was born Jan. 27, 1894 in Lima, Wis. to Henry and Marie (nee Strandl) Falkner. On May 20, 1913, she and Peter Scherr were married at Holy Rosary Church, Lima. After their marriage, they moved to Greenwood, where they were lifelong residents.


She was a member of St. Mary's Church.


Survivors include one son, Martin, of Wausau; one daughter, Mrs. Florian (Marcella) Herrick, Colby; one sister, Mrs. Anna Stelter, Fall Creek; four grandchildren nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband on April 2, 1980 her parents two sisters and four brothers.


Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
